Where our listings come from
Every listing on DesiLocal records where its information came from and when we last checked it. Nothing is published automatically.
Our sources
- Businesses themselves — owners submit or claim a listing and keep it current.
- Official websites — public contact details from a business's own site or a temple, gurdwara or association page.
- Government open data — licensed public datasets, used within their terms.
- Community suggestions — members telling us about a place they use, checked before it goes live.
Our review process
- Incoming records land in a review queue, never straight onto the site.
- We check for duplicates and confirm details against the business's own information.
- A reviewer approves, merges or rejects each record.
- Published listings are re-checked on a schedule and marked stale if we can't confirm them.
What we never do
We do not invent businesses, reviews, ratings or photos, and we do not copy content from sources whose terms don't allow it.
